Who am I?
Hi, I’m Rebeka and I’m glad to see you here! I’m the head and soul of Treehouse Therapy, my psychology practice situated in Utrecht, and I’m here to help you embark on a journey of recovery and self-discovery.
While my roots lie in Romania, I was raised half Romanian and half Hungarian. After living and working in the U.S., Ghana, Georgia, the United Kingdom, and Thailand, I finally moved to the Netherlands. Because of this, I prefer to call myself a citizen of the world. My experience with people from different cultures made me aware of the difficulties expats face and helped me understand their needs both in general and as they try to adapt to living in The Netherlands.
The human mind has always fascinated me and offering a helping hand to others comes naturally to me. I studied psychology with great passion and to prepare for opening my practice, I specialized in Clinical Psychology and Genetic Counselling. Though my career path took a short detour after my studies, I never lost sight of what I really wanted to do – offer therapy to students and expats in need of guidance.
What can Treehouse Therapy offer you?
Everybody goes through difficulties at some point in their lives. Each person deals with these obstacles on their own. Through Treehouse Therapy I want to offer you a safe place where you can be yourself, and where we work together on dealing with the issues you currently face. Treehouse Therapy is a place where we will help you gain new insight into what’s important to you, and what your values are, and together, we can clear the road ahead to get a better overview of your next steps in life. Step-by-step, we will explore the issues you face in a safe, comfortable environment.
From my extensive experience working with students at different universities in Europe and Asia, as well as my own experiences as an expat, I know that living in a different country can be challenging and it can quickly lead to isolation. This is why I love working with international students, young adults, and expats who came to the Netherlands for work, studies – or maybe even love, but are overcome by negative feelings such as loneliness, depression, or anxiety.
My goal is to guide you on your current path and make sense of where you are at the moment, and where you are going.

My approach
My approach when it comes to therapy is very much a person-centered approach. You, as a person, are my main focus. Together, we will gain clarity in where you are in your life at this moment from a holistic point of view. A good therapeutic relationship is essential for a successful outcome of therapy and therefore, building a strong connection between us will also be part of our sessions; relationships are built on trust, and with Treehouse Therapy, I aim to offer you that supportive environment.
As for the techniques I use, I trained in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy during my Master’s studies and went on to specialize in Acceptance and Commitment Therapy. Depending on your needs, I use a mix of different techniques from these branches.
